Rugby World Cup @ The National Tap

The Rugby World Cup is here, and after two weeks of some of the best rugby you’re ever likely to see, we wanted to let you know our plans here at the National Tap. Rugby is in the blood around here, as you all know, and we want to be there to cheer on the boys from afar. That’s why we’re planning on opening up early from the Quarter Finals on if Wales get there (of course they’re getting there after that magnificent win against the Aussies last weekend!).

Wales came into this World Cup as one of the favourites for a change. The winning mentality that the Grand Slam winners have developed over the years through coach Warren Gatland saw them rise to Number 1 in the World Rankings this summer. And after beating Australia in the pool, the tournament has just opened up and given Wales the great chance of reaching the World Cup final. Let’s hope that the boys give Gatland a winning end to his successful reign.

Wales Pool C fixtures:

23rd September – Wales 43-14 Georgia

The Tap won’t be open for any of the pool matches, but if Wales make it to the quarter finals and beyond, we will be open for those matches.

The quarter final games kick off at 8.15am, so if you want a good spot in front of the TV make sure you arrive in plenty of time. We’ll also be offering Caradog’s Bitter (3.9%) for £1.50 a pint throughout the Welsh games, and for the final on the 2nd November there’ll be free breakfast rolls to everyone who comes down.  So tuck in!

As always, keep your eyes glued to our social media feeds to stay up to date on all of our latest offers, as well as opening times for the rugby as we move out of the pool stages and into the knockout rounds. Head on over to the National Tap Facebook page, check out our Instagram feed and make sure to follow us on our Twitter page too!

We think our multi-award-winning, independently brewed craft beer goes perfectly with the rugby. And the National Tap is where we’ll be watching all of the Wales matches. We are proud to serve some of the finest craft ale in the heart of the South Wales Valleys.
